Many activities are underway as planning continues for the Mellish Reef DX-pedition scheduled for March 28, 2014 to April 9, 2014.

Addition to the On-island Team:

Mike, originally from Moscow, Russia, has lived in the USA for the past 22 years. First licensed as UA3AIW, he operated mostly from UK3ABF, UK3ACL, and other club stations in Moscow. In 1998 he received AD6GY and WA6O in 1999.

Mellish logo with datesPlanning continues for the Mellish Reef DX-pedition now scheduled for

Boat Selection:
After reviewing proposals from several charter firms we selected the Expedition Yacht Evohe, owned and skippered by Steve Kafka. We are happy to add Evohe to the list of partners. Evohe is a working boat, not new to DX-peditions.

License submitted to ARRL

ArrlOn October 9, 2014 the license for VK9MT and a letter from the Australian government agency that oversees Mellish Reef were submitted to the ARRL DXCC desk for DXCC accreditation of the Mellish Reef 2014 DX-pedition.

Our boat is Evohe

EvoheWe are pleased to announce the selection of a boat and crew.  Steve Kafka, owner and skipper of the expedition yacht Evohe has agreed to be our transportation partner for Mellish Reef 2014. Steve's pricing and willingness to negotiate a fair price is very much appreciated. Evohe and crew are experienced in doing DX-peditions,  we are very happy to again have Steve and his crew on the team.

VK9MT logo 790 445It's official,  on Friday, 27 September 2013 the Australian Communications and Media Authority issued the call sign VK9MT for use on Mellish Reef. Thanks to Chris Chapman and ODXG for their assistance with the process.
