Pilot Station - VK/ZL

Lee was born in Toronto, Canada and came to New Zealand in 1969 and now lives in Napier in Hawke’s Bay on the East coast of the North Island. He has been a ham since 1953  as VE3CDX, VE3OE and VE3LJ and was the leader of the ZL7AA, ZM7A and ZL7T DXpeditions to Chatham Island in 1993, 1997 and 2009. He was a team member of ZL8RI DXpedition to the Kermadecs in May 1996 and co-leader of the ZL9CI Campbell Island DXpedition in January 1999. He was also the VK/ZL Pilot for DXpeditions such as ZL7C, BQ9P, TO4E, 5V7C, YV0D, 3Y0X and CU6X In the past few years.
He established the ZM4T Contest station near Napier and along with 10 team members has enjoyed success in the CQWW and other major contests during the year. He is also the local Licence examiner in Hawkes Bay and an ARRL DXCC Card Checker for Australasia.
Lee has Achieved DXCC Honor Roll Mixed (345/336), DXCC CW (324/320), DXCC Phone (332/328), DXCC Challenge, 8BDXCC, 5BWAZ, 5BWAS, WAE-TOP, IOTA, WAVE, WAA, WAJA, DUF-4, FOC and A-1 Op. He works both SSB and CW (CW about 70%)
